Your pension will increase by 10.84% with effect from 1 January 2023

Bpf Koopvaardij tries to increase your pension each year with a supplement. The aim of this supplement is to increase the pensions to some extent in line with the cost of living in the past year. The Bpf Koopvaardij board considers it justified to decide that pensions can be increased by 10.84% from 1 January 2023.

The increase consists of two components:

  • An additional supplement of 0.84%

The Bpf Koopvaardij board already decided on 20 July 2022 to allocate an additional supplement of 0.84%. That supplement will be implemented with effect from 1 January 2023. This is on top of the 0.44% supplement that was already allocated with effect from 1 January 2022. You can read more about it in the 21 July news release.

  • A 10% supplement

On 30 November, the Bpf Koopvaardij board decided to further increase your pension by 10%. That increase will also be implemented with effect from 1 January 2023.  For this supplement, we have taken account of the increase in the consumer price index over the period from July 2021 to July 2022. That increase was 12.44%. The pension fund aims to allocate 50% of that increase as a supplement, but may do more if there is room to do so.

The board believes that a 10% supplement is appropriate and balanced. Part of Bpf Koopvaardij's assets will now be used to increase the pensions of members, former members, and pensioners. This is in line with Bpf Koopvaardij's policy on allocating supplements. However, sufficient assets will still remain for future pensions and for the transition to the new pension system. The social partners and Bpf Koopvaardij are jointly considering how those assets can be used in a balanced way.

All members, former members, and pensioners will shortly be receiving a letter explaining more about the allocation of these supplements.
