Pension increase and highlights 2020

In 2020 your pension will be increased. We will also adjust the key figures of the pension scheme.

Pensions are being increased by 0.56%
Each year, we assess whether your pension can be increased in line with the cost of living in the past year. This depends on our financial situation. As of 1 January 2020, this will be partly possible with an increase of 0.41%. The cost of living rose by 1.49% (CBS consumer price index figure July 2018 - July 2019).

No contribution is paid for pension increases. Pension increases are paid from investment return. A pension increase is possible only if the fund’s policy funding ratio* is at or above the statutory limit of 110%. In other words, for every euro of future pension, there must be at least € 1.10 available. You will find the latest policy funding ratio at Financial situation.

Do you have conditional pension (VPL)? This will be reduced by 11.1%
If you are born between 1960 and 1972, you may be eligible under certain conditions for extra pension in accordance with the conditional pension scheme (VPL). You do not pay a premium for this either. We reserve money for this purpose. Every year we check whether there is sufficient money for the conditional pension. Unfortunately, this is not the case in 2020. We have therefore reduced your conditional pension by 11.1% as of 1 January 2020. The 0.41% increase referred to above does not apply to this pension.

You an find your pension in My Koopvaardij
You can see your adjusted (extra) pension in January in My Koopvaardij (accessible with DigiD or eIDAS).

Highlights of 2019
We also adjust the key figures of the pension scheme each year. This can be necessary due to changes in the pension regulations, or if separate arrangements are made between the employees’ organisations and employers’ organisations within the koopvaardij. The figures for 2020 are presented in the table.

Your pension contribution is (again) 25.9%
The most important change in 2020 is that the pension premium is adjusted to the standard premium of 25,9%. The employer pays half of this premium. In 2019 we had the ability to temporarily reduce the pension premium to 25,3%. This temporary reduction is unfortunately not possible in 2020.
