Green light for the new pension scheme

On 21 November, Bpf Koopvaardij received official approval from the Dutch Central Bank [De Nederlandsche Bank NV]) to transfer all pensions within our pension fund to the new pension scheme. The Board will decide in December whether we can indeed make the transition in a controlled and balanced manner as of 1 January 2026. This decision does not yet have any consequences for your administration at this time.

Time-out on Koopvaardij Portal: Make sure your 2025 records are updated before 13 January 2026

Please note: You will not be able to log in from 30 December 2025 to 5 January 2026. Due to the transition to the new pension scheme, the Koopvaardij Portal will be partially available from13 January 2026. Make sure your 2025 records are updated before 13 January 2026. We will keep you informed via Koopvaardij Portal and our website.

The key figures for 2026 will be available shortly

Each year, we adjust the amounts and percentages for the pension scheme. You need these key figures for your administration and contribution payments. You will find them in the letter you will be receiving shortly or in January at www.koopvaardij.nl/en/employer.

What does the new pension scheme mean for you?

We will arrange the transition to the new pension scheme. You don’t need to do anything yourself for this transition.
However, it is important that your records are up to date. You can do this by updating your records promptly with the correct employee details.

You can already find a lot of information about the new scheme on the website. From January, you will also find the new pension scheme rules there.

Your employees will receive a final calculation in the spring

In October or November, your employees received the preliminary calculation of the new pension. Your employees will receive a final calculation in the spring with the most up-to-date amounts. That will allow them to compare the pension in the old and new schemes.

When will you receive our invoice?

In the first quarter of 2026, you will receive our monthly invoice on the following dates:

• Monday 26 January
• Thursday 26 February
• Thursday 26 March

On 1 January 2026, we intend to transfer the pensions to the new pension system. We are curious to know how well the information about the new pension scheme meets your needs.

Early next year, you will receive another invitation to participate in this survey. We hope you’ll do so!

Review of the pension meetings

Last autumn, we held pension meetings for members and pensioners in Zwolle, Delft, and Vianen. On behalf of the Dutch Merchant Navy’s Company Pension Fund board, Remko Kloos, Richard Devue, Sacha van Hoogdalem and Chantal Boekkooi shared the latest news on the fund’s situation and the transition to the new pension.
