On 1 October 2026, Richard Devue was appointed chairman of Bpf Koopvaardij. He succeeds Remko Kloos, who had occupied this position for six years. Richard was already a member of the board as deputy chairman.
Richard has been active in the pension sector for many years and has extensive experience in pension policy and fund governance. In his role as deputy chairman, he has been closely involved in recent years with developments within the fund and the preparations for the new pension scheme. With his knowledge of the sector, administrative experience and involvement in Bpf Koopvaardij, he is looking forward to his role as chairman.
‘I think it’s important that we as the board support everyone. That also includes those individuals who may not speak up so readily. I will continue to make sure that their voices are heard.’
Richard's appointment means that Remko Kloos is stepping down as chairman. Remko has been involved in the pension fund for over 16 years and held the role of chairman for the past 6 years. During that period, he worked for a financially sound fund and the preparations for the transition to the new pension scheme, together with the other board members.
Remko will remain associated with Bpf Koopvaardij as the employer representative on the board and will take over from Richard as deputy chairman. This means that Richard and Remko are swapping roles as chairman of the board. Remko’s knowledge and experience will therefore be retained for the fund.
The board would like to thank Remko for his many years of commitment and dedication to the pension fund and looks forward to working with Richard as the new chairman.
