This is what the new pension scheme means for you

Since 1 January 2026, your employees have built up their pension according to the new pension scheme. On our website, you can find out all about what has changed and what your role is as the employer.

Apply the overtime surcharge when calculating contributions

The overtime surcharge is one of the arrangements set out in the pension scheme rules. When calculating the contribution, you include the overtime surcharge in your employees’ pensionable salary. This surcharge is 15% of the basic pay, the tanker increase, and the holiday pay. You apply the overtime surcharge if the overtime is not included (partly) in the basic pay.

You are confident about the new pension system 

Early this year, more than 4,750 members and a number of employees responded to our survey about the new pension system. Many of them are confident and well-informed about the new system. They do say, though, that they feel the need for a clearer explanation. With the help of your feedback, we can improve our communication.
