Nominations for the board

As of 1 July 2022, 2 seats will become vacant on the board of Bpf Koopvaardij. These are intended for representatives of pensioners at Bpf Koopvaardij. We are already looking for suitable candidates. The new board members will focus on either Pension Matters & Communications or Finance, Administrative Organisation & IT. Candidates can be nominated up to and including 18 January 2022. If there are several candidates for the same position, elections will be held in early March 2022. Pensioners can then vote for the candidates.

What does a board member do?

Bpf Koopvaardij has a total of 9 board members. They focus on ensuring a satisfactory old-age provision for the more than 53,000 members of Bpf Koopvaardij. The decisions they take relate, for instance, to:

  • detailing and administering the pension scheme in the Dutch merchant navy
  • the pension scheme rules
  • the asset management of the approximately €4.5 billion in pension money
  • the pension administration or its outsourcing.

A responsible position with a time commitment of slightly more than one day a week. This is a paid position, in accordance with the remuneration rules in the board regulations (pdf, Dutch only).

Who are we looking for?

Suitable candidates should have not only management experience but also extensive (general) pension knowledge. In addition, specific knowledge and experience is required for the focus area of the board member. There is a vacancy for:

  • a board member with the focus area Pension Matters & Communications
  • a board member with the focus area Finance, Administrative Organisation (AO) and IT.

In the job profiles Pension Matters & Communications (pdf) and Finance, Administrative Organisation (AO) and IT (pdf), you will find all the job requirements. These must already be met upon nomination. This will be assessed by the Bpf Koopvaardij board. A knowledge and competence assessment will also be part of the procedure. Before the final appointment to the board, the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) also will perform a suitability test.
