Calculating your pension assets

We have converted your accrued pension into personal pension assets. We explain how this calculation was made.

Your total pension assets consist of three components

First, we calculate the value of your pensions built up until 31 December 2025. The value depends, among other things, on the amount of your built-up pension, your age and the interest rate. This value is your pension assets.

We may then be able to increase your built-up pension as a result of the transition to the new pension rules. This increase comes on top of your pension assets. You can read about the increase in this news item

Are you building up a pension with us and were you born between February 1958 and December 1989? If so, you will also receive compensation from us. You will find your compensation amount in the final calculation letter and in My Koopvaardij.

Difference between your preliminary and your final calculation letter

Your pension assets may have been higher in the preliminary calculation than in the final calculation. This is mainly due to the interest rate. Interest rates rose in the final months of 2025, reducing the value of your built-up pension in the old scheme. Less pension capital is needed for the same pension. You can find your expected pension per month in the final calculation letter and on My Koopvaardij.

Interest rates are not the only reason your pension assets are different from the preliminary calculation. For instance, our funding ratio has increased, enabling us to increase the pension assets at the time of the conversion by more than previously anticipated. Changes in your personal situation may also affect your pension assets.
