UPO Frequently Asked Questions

Why am I receiving an UPO?

The Uniform Pension Overview is a standardised document you receive annually from your pension fund. The overview gives you an insight into how much pension you have built up so far and what you can expect to receive when you retire.

What is Factor A and what do I need it for?

The Factor A indicates the increase of the built-up pension in a particular calendar year. The Factor A can be found on your yearly Uniform Pension Overview (UPO).
You only need the Factor A for your tax return if you supplement (or wish to supplement) the pension with an annuity or bank savings.

  • Do you have annuities or banks savings? Then you need the Factor A of the previous year for your tax return.
  • Do you wish to supplement your pension with, for example, annuities or bank savings? Using the Calculation Tool for Annuities (Dutch only) by the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration (Belastingdienst, you use the Factor A to calculate how much extra pension you are allowed to build up (within your fiscal space).

Why is my partner not mentioned on my UPO?

If your partner is not mentioned on your Uniform Pension Overview (UPO), you can report this to us. Please send an e-mail to our Service Desk and mention that your partner is not stated on the UPO. Please also inform us of the citizen service number (CSN) of your partner. We will then ensure that the details of your partner will be displayed on your UPO.

Please note:

  • We are automatically informed of a marriage or registered partnership that took place in The Netherlands.
  • If you live abroad we need a copy of your marriage certificate, registered partnership certificate or your notarial cohabitation contract. When we have received this we can enter your partner into our accounts.
  • If your partner does not live in the Netherlands, she or he may not have a CSN. If you have already supplied us with the details of your partner, you do not need to do anything.
  • If you have not yet registered your partner with us, please supply us with the details and report that your partner does not have a CSN. You can contact our Service Desk.
