Your pension in the new scheme
On 1 January 2026, we converted your pension to our new scheme. Between mid-March and the end of May, you will receive a letter or email showing your pension per month and per year in the old and new scheme. In the letter, you will also see what your partner (if any) and any children you may have will receive when you pass away. You will also read why the amounts in this letter may be different from the previous letter.
Why is the pension higher in the new scheme?
For most members, the new pension is higher after switching to the new pension scheme. This is due in part to:
- A healthy funding ratio at the time of conversion
- A balanced distribution of Bpf Koopvaardij's total assets
- A pension increase for Koopvaardij pensioners of 13%
Your pension amount in 2026
Do you want to know when and how you will receive your pension in 2026? Read what you can expect.
- January and February: you will receive your pension amount from the old scheme, with the 2026 tax rules.
Is your pension too low in these two months? The difference will be paid out to you retroactively. - From March: you will receive your pension amount from the new scheme. Does your net pension change? If so, you will then receive a new benefit payment overview from us. You can also download it from My Koopvaardij.
- Your pension is being increased by 13%.
- End of the year: you will be notified of your pension amount for 2027. Every year, the amount of your pension is recalculated. It will not change monthly.
- All of 2026: view all payment dates for your pension benefit payment.
Important: if your pension increases, your total income will also increase. Do you receive any allowances from the state? If so, this increase may also affect your allowances. For information about this, visit the website of the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration.
