Do you wish to transfer your built up pension to Bpf Koopvaardij in 2025? We can well imagine that you wish to do so. This way, you can keep your pension together. You can transfer your pension in 2025, but only under certain conditions. On this page you can read how.
Pension transfer may take longer
All pension funds in the Netherlands are switching to a new pension scheme. Bpf Koopvaardij will do so on 1 January 2026. But not all funds are transitioning at the same time. As a result, your pension transfer may take longer. This is because you can transfer your pension only if both the old and new pension funds have switched to the new pension scheme. Or if neither of them have switched.
When can I transfer my pension?
Bpf Koopvaardij will switch to a new pension scheme on 1 January 2026. If your previous pension fund does not yet have a new pension scheme, we can still process your application and you can transfer your pension to Bpf Koopvaardij. At You are going to work in the merchant navy you can find more information. Remember: due to the transition to the new scheme, we will not be able to process any applications for pension transfers in the first few months of 2026.
My previous pension fund has already switched. What happens now?
Unfortunately, we cannot yet process your application in that case. We ourselves will not switch to a new pension scheme until 1 January 2026. However, you can apply in advance. No need to worry. Your pension will remain with your previous pension fund until the transfer. And your pension build-up at Bpf Koopvaardij will continue as normal.
When will I hear about my application?
From 1 April 2026, we will process the applications we were unable to process this year. You will be notified of this automatically. We will then also ask whether you still want to transfer your pension to Bpf Koopvaardij.
What happens when I leave Bpf Koopvaardij in the meantime?
If you have already submitted an application, but are leaving Bpf Koopvaardij before we can transfer your pension, request a pension transfer from your new pension fund for:
- the pension you built up at your previous pension fund or funds;
- the pension you built up at Bpf Koopvaardij.
Has your pension come into payment in the meantime?
If your pension with your previous pension fund will come into payment before we can process your application, then unfortunately a pension transfer will no longer be possible and this pension will remain with your previous pension fund.
